House of Wonder

Peggy Karman

--

Minutes pass
hours evaporate
and days disappear.
Seemingly so little accomplished
and yet this morning ritual,
this gentle greeting
from a young mother
leads me to a place of marvel.

A world of wonder
as our eyes meet,
a willingness
for us each to trust.
To surrender fear,
to risk all that we hold dear
as we release our children
into this world.

Quietly, gently,
I pray for her child,
she gifts me with a gaze
as if through the eyes
of her Creator.
In silence,
there is an understanding,
a recognition
of our interconnectedness
each as mothers,
each as children
of Mother Nature Herself.

Wisdom comes
in a myriad of ways.
Accomplishment rarely measured
in marvel or wonder and yet,
so much is gained from both.
Daily I stand in gratitude
that at least once a day
my breath is taken away
and my heart is opened
to the possibility of it all.

Serving as a witness to grace
is a marvelous accomplishment
the world may not recognize and yet,
when it meets another soul,
magic happens,
love lives,
hope and faith reside.

Live in this house of wonder.

Let it go love,
you are home.
And for a moment,
time stood still.
